The decision

Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang are different airport journeys. A city hotel’s airport distance alone says little about the final transfer in traffic. For riverside hotels, ask for the precise road entrance and whether any boat connection is relevant at your arrival time. For Siam or Sukhumvit, compare the station exit and road crossing with luggage rather than a straight-line map measurement.

How to compare

Plan the complete arrival chain rather than the airport train alone: terminal, transport, final station exit and hotel entrance. A late arrival or heavy luggage can change the best base for your first night.

Compare river time, Siam shopping and rail connections. Bangkok traffic makes the actual arrival route part of choosing a hotel.

Before committing

Use your actual flight date and terminal in the transport operator’s planner. Check the last useful departure, ticket conditions, lift access and the walk after leaving the station. For a pre-arranged car, ask the hotel for the pickup point and how the driver should identify you. Save the hotel name and address offline in the local language. Treat an early return flight as a separate journey; the best arrival route may not operate at your departure time.
